above screenshot: K4Flying10x10 - Chaturanga Modern (for screenshot of 'Chaturanga Ancient' see final diagram) K4Flying is played with 2 Kings per side. Captured pieces are kept in-hand, and may be dropped back on the board as your own. To win you must capture 1 King. There are games on 8x8, 9x9 and 10x10 boards. This game is the same as my earlier game 'K4', except this game is not boring because it has drops!! I have added a few slider variants and some variants with kings starting in the corner to the 9x9 and 10x10 games. Standard Chaturanga and XiangiQi pieces used plus the following sliders. Moo: slides 2 squares to make a knight move AlibabaSlider: slides 2 squares orthogonal + slides 2 squares diagonal CamelSlider: non-capture wazir + slides 2 orthogonal then 1 diagonal (to make camel move) Sang: Korean chess elephant (slides 1 orthogonal then 2 diagonally outward) below screen is K4Flying10x10, 'Bases Chaturanga' i had some fantastic games playing this variant, this set up seems work fine with the Kings in the corner. screen below - K4Flying10x10, 'Sang CamelSlider' AlibabaSlider a1, Moo b1, CamelSlider c1 and Sang d1 Love playing with these sliders, not as deadly as stronger pieces. Fun dropping CamelSlider and Sang, i like the AlibabaSlider too. below screen is from K4Flying10x10, 'Bases -sliders 1' i have made a few variants with the Kings being placed in the corner. They seem to play ok, tested a few times. screen below - K4Flying9x9, 'Bases -chaturanga' * 'ship' graphic is 'alfil' i think the 9x9 is a pretty good size for these types of games screen below - K4Flying10x10, 'Chaturanga Ancient' standard set up from 'K4' which was played without drops. It is funny to see zillions play from this position, often moving it's King out in strikingly bad fashion from the word go :))
