Also, I did qualify it as '...for a 2d variant', meaning that generally speaking 3d variants are indeed more ambitious and more complex, but through the more obvious distinction of pieces having a wider range of basic moves. Thanks for suggesting that I try designing a variant with my pieces, I'll take it as permission to do so without accusation of stealing the idea for the theme.
