My understanding of 'checkmate' is that no move is available taking the
PLAYER out of check. A move merely changing which of two Kings is in check
is not a move out of check. This is certainly implicit in my
two-rulers-aside games (Magna Carta, Sachsenschach, Unionschach, some
forms of Tunnelchess).
Here's another question. The sample game has the Bishops on
opposite-colour squares. Is this a requirement?
