And this is exactly what the Superchess endeavor is attempting. Oct 12 there will be a gathering of some 40 people that will play Superchess all day. George might not think much of it from a design or originality point of view, and my personal preference would go to other vaiants as well. But this variant is being played. Many others hardly so.
