Check out Atomic Chess, our featured variant for November, 2024.

Since Java is no longer supported in most browsers, our Java applets probably will not run unless you install an extension that will run them. We recommend installing the CheerpJ Applet Runner extension on Edge, Chrome, or another Chromium browser. If your browser still does support Java, and you're not using this extension, make sure this site is listed in your Java exceptions list. You should find this in the Security tab of your Java control panel.

Mark Liptak and Rick Babcock, 1990. The object is to checkmate the other side's primary (white/black) king. You move whatever friendly units are on your own board during your turn. Neither secondary player may expose either of the side's kings to check. If the primary player exposes the secondary king to check, the secondary player is paralyzed, and primary player takes the turn instead. If secondary king is temporarily mated, pieces are frozen and uncapturable. Unfreeze by moving primary king to the other board.
