Today Chessbase
http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=5717
reports announcement it got of an upcoming big-prize chess world
championship in Las Vegas for December 2009. Don't start small but do something, I guess. However, here Chessbase seems to be conveying considerable scepticism. Anyone can please feel free to explain and discredit. This comment as thread would better have been named WorldChamp*Match*.

That looks like a mess. Looks like someone hijacked the original
'American Chess Association' name and tried to make it their own name.
Need to see if it comes off properly. Not sure an event using a yahoo.com
email address for sponsors is going to come off properly.

Well, just my 2 cents. Need to keep an eye on it.

Not quite the length of the 1980s matches, one in particular. But
thankfully they're over, and Chess can move on to a new era, as Kasparov
says. http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=5789
