I have this idea of a CV, I like to call 'The Madness of Kings Chess'.

The idea of the game is to give the King an extra 'power' controled by
the opponent. So that the players not only should pay attention to what
the opponent is doing, but they should also see what their own King is
doing.

---

The power of choice is a lame Alibaba, limiting the opponent's part of
the King to a quarter of the board, and easing the ability to corner the
king somewhere.

---

As for opening setups .. I think that all setups are playable, Orthodox,
960, Fortress. I would prefer using some diagonal variant arrangement like
in Legan's Chess because is already cornered in that setup.

Opening setup of choice

krbp4/rqnp4/nbpp4/pppp4/4PPPP/4PPBN/4PNQR/4PBRK

The setup of Diamond Chess by A. K. Porterfield Rynd. Pawns move and
promote as they do in diagonal variants.

---

Other rules, there is no castling, naturally.

Er .. the King may capture FRIENDLY, NOT HOSTILE pieces with his ALibaba
move. That is: if White moves Black's king he may capture a Black piece,
and vice versa.

The King MAY place himself in check when moved by the opponent, but NOT
checkmate. It may not move in check or be exposed to check when played by
his owner.

---

Switching: I considered the idea of using Switching Chess rules for this
game. The king never switches, but the other pieces switch with each
other. I am not sure hiw this will work out.

So, what do you think about this variant?
