Did you ever thought about a weaker version of the insane ninja knight? A ninja knight (or a ninja assassin)? Just a ninja warrior + ninja guard compund, without the knight element?

Yes I did think of this compound - it was to be called the Insane Ninja! 
I used the insane ninja knight because it is present in my game 
Asylum Chess. 
I guess it could be fine to have the promotion to Insane Ninja instead of insane ninja knight if agreed by the 2 players
I might use the insane ninja in an upcoming variant.

This is not a modest variant, so don't put check-mark for 'modest' in the index information. 'Modest variant' means a variant that uses only normal chess equipment (nothing else), with very similar rules and only a few changes.
