This page is so confusing and full of unnecessary stuff and strange terms that I couldn't figure out how to play the game.
Think of it as two games of checkers played at once, one on light squares and one on dark. (Thus, the starting setup is 24 pieces, solidly occupying the back three ranks.) Then change the pieces' capturing move to orthogonal instead of diagonal (straight ahead only for plain men, all four directions for crowned men)--so a piece in one game actually captures pieces from the other.
I invented this game independetly and tried to play... It appeared unplayable.
To Daniil Frolov: are there any written records of your inventing of this? If so, I would happily add references and have it jointly credited.
Oops! I'm sorry! I have read rules not carefully at first time: in my variant each player had draughts only on 1 color. Your variant, where each player have draughts on both colors is playable, i played it! And, i think, this idea must be developed: if chess variants are not very popular, checkers variants (take-me checkers, for example) are popular. By the way, how about allowing to capture sideways (like in Turkish/Armenian orthogonal checkers)?
I programmed this game in Zillions. Download ZRF file. I also added the French variant, and misere, and French misere, and a variant with 9x9 board and queen. In case of repetition, whoever has more pieces wins (this is the implementation of the rule that in case of no more captures). A player with no legal moves loses (except in the misere game).
Good to see my ideas appreciated. Will the Zillions implementations appear on the site?
Something I notice when programming the ZRF of this game: The count-condition is also allowed to be repetition, even though the help file says only stalemated and total-piece-count conditions are permitted for count-condition. (Now you can use this in case you make a game like this.)
