note that there is a mistake in the third line of the description of the utahraptor. However if it attacks an elephant it is put back to its original position. elephant is supposed to be t-rex.

not a bad game. the utahraptor and the t-rex are fun to use and i like the idea of the general.

hmmm i did play this game a few times since i saw the earlier comment. not a bad game at all. however i just have one query.. wouldnt a player with only pterodactyls and velociraptors have a disadvantage?

Wouldn't it be better to have the four pieces that move 1/2 squares diagonally and two pieces that move 1/2 squares vertically or horizontally?

yes it is true that a player with only velociraptors and pterodactyls
would have a slight disadvantage but the disadvantages would be
considerably lessened because:

1. the other player would have to face to problematic situation of
destroying 4 velociraptors.

2. the utahraptors would be more or less demoralised since there are no
velociraptors to build the attack.

3. the general would be able to kill elephant in a single try.

4. most of his attacks would be really slow (due to elephants)

well it is quite a good game. very original. i think the idea of a general should be implemented in more games. i love those whacky moves.. especially the utaraptor attacks... you can never see them comin. being a dino-buff myself (when i was a kid atleast) i'd have to say its a pretty impressive game.

One possible symmetric varant: Use all pieces and set up as FIDE chess. The king (one of the two T-rex each player has) is automatically considered general. Place checkers underneath to represent a T-rex having been hit once.

(Alternatively, use rooks to represent T-rex so that they can be flipped once hit?)
