After several months of on-again, off-again staff discussions, we're finally going to do this. Inventors want to see their games played. If they're also willing to help others with the same dream, this is the place!

Invent-and-Play is a five-player multivariant PBEM tournament.

Invent-and-Play is a variant design contest, judged by a panel of designers who play every entry.

Invent-and-Play...it's two contests for the price of one...

A really fine contest--Tony Quintanilla and I have been doing this informally among ourselves. I'm looking forward to more games with more designers!
I have more games, from more designers, to post tonight. Glenn
The list of games is very attractive, I think it is not easy to decide preferences. I expect that other designers are going to be animated, and the list grows with good games.
Section 2 is coming soon. I need some aclarations about playing rules. Have I to send the moves to the section, to the Editor-Coordinator, or directly to the other player? (interchanging ZSG's is an usual manner if there is a ZRF for the game, but not the only way...).
Roberto, you can send your moves directly to the player.
This section is difficult to see in What´s New, but 'opponents wanted' is almost invisible...
Section 2 is active since September 1. This page needs an actualization... And other inventors are welcome, PBM system is an excellent tool for make the adequated preset, if you prefer it to Zillions as visual aid. At least, it could be easiest.
Great idea. Is this still going on? If so, I would like to participate.
My info is that invent and play is defunct - I tried to get in with hyperchess. I'd be happy to trade games with you. Joe Joyce
I would like that. I went and took a look at hyperchess. Maybe we could play one of yours and one of mine. I posted Sentinel Chess a while back, and I would like to trade a game with you. Thanks for your quick response.
The editor who was running this has dropped all of his editorial responsibilities and has not contributed to this site in any way for quite some time now. My understanding is that his job, working with Boy Scouts and running a Boy Scout store, required too much of his time.
I'd be very happy to trade games with you; maybe we can begin to revive invent and play. Or at least fake it. I'll check out Sentinel Chess. And, judging by some of the recent comments, looks like 'hyperchess' will have to get a new name, it's been used. Any ideas? ;-) Joe
