As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm out of the country for a week and a half, so if the tournament does start, please hold off on starting my games until Oct. 15th. Thanks!

I'm back to having regular internet access. Feel free to schedule me for any games at any time. Thanks.

I am currently working on pairing people up for games. I hope to have all pairings assigned soon.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience in waiting for this
tournament to begin. At the time it was supposed to begin, some unexpected
chaos, known to some of you, made it difficult for me to focus on assigning
the pairings. Since then, without an immediate deadline in front of me, I
have let work, exercise, and spending time with my new girlfriend and her
kids get in the way of finishing the pairing assignments. Back during the
previous tournaments, I worked fewer hours, exercised much less, and
didn't have a girlfriend. So I had much more time for running a
tournament.

Anyway, I have now posted the pairings straight from my spreadsheet. I
will tidy up the HTML later. I am presently writing from work while I'm
at the counter and have no customers to deal with. Before I start
assigning games, I want to make sure everyone in the tournament is aware
that it is beginning. If you're in this tournament, please leave a note
here to let me know you're ready.

Also, some of you may change the games you're playing in the tournament.
If you and your opponent for a particular game are both not playing
another game, and you both would prefer to play that other game, you may
switch. Note that black squares indicate games someone chose not to play,
and red squares indicate arbitrary decisions made while assigning
pairings. If you and your opponent both have red squares on another game,
then you might choose another. But if one of you has a black square on
another game, it indicates a real preference against that game.

Ready to begin. Thank you, Fergus, for your work in making this happen. Good to hear from you.

Exercise? Spending time with your girlfriend?!? That's no excuse :)

j/k. In all seriousness, thanks for getting this together. I'm glad to
see that it is happening! I'm basically ready, but I might send an email
to a partner or two to see if they want to switch games. But if it starts
before they reply, that's fine to. I didn't express any preferences.

Hello, Fergus. Nice to see you back; hope everything works out very well for you. I'm in, but it ought to be an interesting juggling act. Looking forward to it. Enjoy. I plan to. Joe

The game listed as 'Cannons of Estonians' charming as that is, is really, I believe, Gary Gifford's Cannons of Chesstonia.

I got a notice that we need to reconfirm... I'm still playing.

I read Jeremy's comment, i.e., 'The game listed as 'Cannons of
Estonians' charming as that is, is really, I believe, Gary Gifford's
Cannons of Chesstonia.'

Jeremy is correct. Best regards, Gary

Ready to go.

Jeremy Good wrote on Sat, Feb 24, 2007 01:09 AM UTC:
lol, who are you, Snagger Blagger? Are you one of the names above that already signed up for this thing? lol.

Greg Strong wrote on Sat, Feb 24, 2007 03:06 AM UTC:
Michael Schmahl,
Would you be interested in playing Shako instead of Neutral King Chess? I
would have emailed you, but you did not have an address listed.

Jeremy Good wrote on Sat, Feb 24, 2007 12:55 PM UTC:
Greg, you and I could alternately play Berolina Chess or Modern Shatranj. Just fyi. Cannons of Chesstonia is fine with me, but your choice. :-) Btw, please respond to my last email. (If you already did, I didn't get it somehow).

Greg Strong wrote on Sat, Feb 24, 2007 10:47 PM UTC:
Ok, Jeremy, let's play Modern Shatranj instead. I've been meaning to play it ...

I've delayed long enough. I will begin the tournament tonight by assigning at least one game to each participant. These will have some additional spare time added for people who have been away to get started. If your opponent doesn't start playing, please remind him by email to begin the tournament. When all the participants are active, I will assign some more games.

Great! Been looking forward to this. Thanks.

Jeremy Good wrote on Fri, Mar 16, 2007 11:21 AM UTC:

Thanks, Fergus, for getting this started. I see I'm playing Alice Chess against carlos carlos for my first game and carlos carlos happens to have the highest rated Alice Chess rating on chessvariants.org. Looking forward to the challenge of playing with you, Carlos.

Good luck to everyone who is playing in this tournament.

If you're playing in the tournament and also happen to be playing games with me, please feel free to discontinue our games until after the tournament is over.

If it is a timed game, feel free to delete it.

Don't feel obliged to continue both at the same time.

I will try to continue to play in all the games on the side that I've been playing in though.

Thanks again, Fergus.

Enjoy the tournament! :)

If a game is finished, do we have to report it?
