The page should be ready for publication now. I have a working .ZRF, but it needs a bit of polishing.

I, for one, like the looks of this game. I think I'd want to play it on 10x10, but that's my own extension of your variant.

(PS: Paladin has one L.) :)

Isn't the Lion too hard to checkmate? You have playtested this game? I'm curious.

By intention, the Royal Lion is hard to checkmate. The games run quite long (100+ moves) but draws are not common per Zillions vs. itself at a strong setting. This won't be to everyone's taste. If further testing indicates the game is drawish, perhaps bare Lion should be a win, but so far it doesn't seem to be.

BTW, mating positions do exist for Royal Lion and Amazon vs. Royal Lion, but I'm not sure mate can be forced.

Referring, of course, to checkmate.

With Royal KNAD both a Queen and a non-royal Lion can force checkmate (on 8x8). Even under conditions where the bare Lion is allowed to pass its turn (so that there never is any zugzwang).

Fairygen could not check if this would require the non-royal piece to deliver contact checks, though. (Which in the case  of a full Chu-Shogi Lion would get them rifle-captured.)
