In Troitsky Chess it's obvious that a different board shape makes an immense difference in the qualities of strategy. Analogously, in Adjutant Chess the extra corner squares can be utilized as hiding places for the king. This affects strategy profoundly in that it is now much easier to launch a pawn attack on the same side without compromising the king. This idea is reinforced by the extended castling rule. The king can optionally jump three squares instead of two. In this way the king is closer to the extra corner square.
