Spratt has 12x16 Track Two. Actually Jetan is underutilized for its difficulty.
Joe Joyce knows which ones of his are 192, a preferred size he once said, or may be saying again. Of course 192 is 3 boards if you cut them up right. Jetan Jeddara has 25 or 26 piece-types according to count. This footnote of the piece density discussion is not meant as a distraction. Ziditar is like a train (but there is another CV with railroads) pulling pieces, and Airships load passenger-pieces. Gridlock came earlier, and Gridlock has several pieces transporting other pieces, like these, if anyone can work through Gridlock's rules.
This is a lovely game. I know James and Tony Q were playing a multi-move version of it around the time I first got here. It's a good illustration of the difficulties in play with about a hundred pieces on the board at start. That's why they had squad movement available, utilizing leaders, when you read the rules. Their leaders are much more varied and flexible than the ones I've found most useful [which are the simplest.] I'll bet figuring moves got to be quite an intricate undertaking once they got into the game. The sample game lasted 6 turns, and I know James said he moved 27 pieces one turn, and Tony answered back next move he did, too. A very large game should have some mechanism[s] for controlling [ie: picking up] the pace. Moving more than 1 piece per turn is a good way to start. And somewhere along the line, George, you noted 12x16 is 3 boards, one of them cut in half, assembled. I'd suggest 2/3 the pieces, 32 per side, or thereabouts, instead of the 48 'required' for a half-filled board at start, might be a very good place to look, along with 24ish pieces/side for contrast.
This is a great game and a lot of fun. The game is supposed to be played using multi-moves. I tried this with James. The game was very fun. Obviously it was not possible to precisely calculate the moves. Alternatively, one can play using single moves, which takes a long time because of the size of the board and number of pieces. The game has a lot of flavor and really appeals to the Martian theme, particularly using James' Game Courier graphics. This is a game for the adventuresome!
