Game Courier Tournament #3. Vote for which games should be in the third Game Courier tournament.[All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

I think there might be a slight 'oops' in game assignments this time around. It appears Mike Schmahl is playing Voidrider against John Lewis, when he should be playing Voidrider against me at some point. He plays Moderate Progressive against John, I believe, according to the schedule. I'm currently playing 2 scheduled games, Gary in Templar and Bogot in Catapults of Troy.

carlos carlos wrote on Mon, Aug 27, 2007 03:19 AM UTC:
oops.

just ignore that game as far as the tournament goes?

i'll get some more games assigned soon.

carlos carlos wrote on Fri, Aug 31, 2007 03:39 AM UTC:
i plan to assign more games this week when some people have timed out of their second-round games. i'll get it up to four active games each. at the end of each month, i'll do the same thing (assign enough games so that people have four active games).

does anyone object to this? if you only want 2 or 3 games going, please say so.

Joe Joyce wrote on Fri, Aug 31, 2007 03:13 PM UTC:
Hey, Carlos, it looks like Bogot is going to time out in our game of Catapults of Troy. If possible, I'd like to have only 2 or 3 games rather than 4 right now, but only if it doesn't delay the schedule. Thank you, Carlos, for getting this going again.

carlos carlos wrote on Mon, Sep 3, 2007 03:43 PM UTC:
antoine, you know how to delete logs, right?

can you please delete these:

jejujeju-adrian-2007-245-672
adrian-sam_trenholme-2007-232-275
antoinefourriere-rodriguez-2007-245-678

thanks!

i can re-assign that last game properly after it's deleted (or you can if you want). i can't do it while that one still exists. the first two don't need to exist at all.

carlos carlos wrote on Mon, Sep 3, 2007 03:46 PM UTC:
i think everyone has four games going now except for joe (two). again, please double-check that i have got the games and sides right...

Antoine Fourrière wrote on Mon, Sep 3, 2007 07:46 PM UTC:
I deleted the three games.

carlos carlos wrote on Tue, Sep 4, 2007 12:30 AM UTC:

To quote Darth Vader: NOOOOOOOO, not five games at once! Of course, my game with Nasmichael Farris never got started. I am just posting this note to let you know that I am not looking for a new (fifth) opponent.

This link lists the games set off by Carlos.
(Here are the games set off by Fergus.)

new games assigned, please check... that will probably be it for a good six weeks.

antoine, if you could update the grid again sometime, please do. thanks.

Jeremy Good wrote on Fri, Sep 28, 2007 11:19 AM UTC:
Thank you. For some reason, I can't get my game of Fusion Chess started with Joe Joyce. I click on the button and it won't load, finally giving me the message, 'Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/chessva/public_html/play/pbm/polish.php on line 79' ...it wouldn't allow me to delete it either, so I sent a new invite to Joe.

Joe Joyce wrote on Fri, Sep 28, 2007 12:44 PM UTC:
Okay, Jeremy, I've accepted the substitute game as black. Hope this works alright. Joe

Jeremy Good wrote on Fri, Sep 28, 2007 03:47 PM UTC:

I'm having the same basic problem. This time an error message that reads: 'Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/chessva/public_html/play/pbm/gamecode.php on line 644' so I guess it's just not working, this preset... But there are two presets for it, one that enforces the rules and one that doesn't. Let's see if the other one works better...

Joe Joyce wrote on Fri, Sep 28, 2007 04:19 PM UTC:
Okay, I took black again...

David Paulowich wrote on Sun, Sep 30, 2007 09:51 PM UTC:
Everyone else probably knows this, but it won't hurt to mention that: Catapults and Cannons have very different rules for launching pieces. Earlier today I commented on an interesting Catapults of Troy Log.

Joe Joyce wrote on Fri, Oct 5, 2007 03:10 PM UTC:
One question raised by David Paulowich needs to be answered before we have any problems, I believe. In a kibbitz comment he poses:
'a tricky question: Are we enforcing 'touch-move rules' in this tournament? To be specific, if I attempt an illegal move, can my opponent demand that I then make a legal move with the same piece?'
I personally hope the answer is 'No', but, yes or no, I think it should be settled before we *need* that answer.

Juan Rodriguez, you are running out of time in our tournament game of Omega Chess.

***************************************************************************

If anyone can contact him, please do so.

Unfortunately, Juan sent me only one move, and I deleted that from my email when I made my reply, so I do not have his email address.

Thank you. Joe

antoine/anyone else who knows how,

please delete these logs:
bruck-judgmentality-20070316-504 (wrong time limits)
rodriguez-sibahi-2007-316-497 (never opens)

carlos carlos wrote on Tue, Nov 13, 2007 11:33 AM UTC:
sorry for the long delay, out of the country with unpredictable internet access for the last six weeks. more games up... again, check your opponents/colors.

also, on games which hadn't been played before, i manually set and slightly altered the time controls to try and avoid the time display error that's been happening.

everyone should have 2-4 active games.

there are only really 13 players taking part in the tournament. results after all games completed so far:

(points/games completed)

adrian de la campa 5/7
antoine fourriere 6/7
abdul-raman sibahi 1/4
carloscarlos 3/5
david paulowich 5/6
gary gifford 2/2
greg strong 3/5
je ju 1/5
jeremy good 2/6
joe joyce 1/1
juan rodriguez 1/7
michael schmahl 2/5
todor tchervenkov 3/4
uri bruck 0/5

i guess you could add an extra six wins for everybody if you wanted for all the people who pulled out.

je ju wrote on Tue, Nov 13, 2007 12:32 PM UTC:
Great, excited for a new set of games.

Oh, and I'll happily take those 6 W's in order to jazz up the winning percentage!!

Again, thanks for the time and effort, Carlos.

Antoine Fourrière wrote on Tue, Nov 13, 2007 02:11 PM UTC:
I deleted the two aforementioned games.
I also deleted the Glinski game between TT and AS because they already met at Anti-King Chess II.

Abdul-Rahman Sibahi wrote on Wed, Nov 14, 2007 01:35 AM UTC:
Carlos, I won two games. One against TT, and one against Bogot. (or does the Bogot game not count?)

carlos carlos wrote on Wed, Nov 14, 2007 01:37 AM UTC:
thanks, antoine. i also messed up these modern shatranj games which need to be deleted.
tchervenkov-jeju-2007-316-504
penswift-carlos-2007-316-527

i'll assign replacement games later today or tomorrow.
