Dear friends!I would like show to You shortest  'fool mat' in Grand and
Gothic Chess.
Shortest mat in Grand Chess!

1.Rook jf1- Cardinal f7(Moves like B+N)
2.Rook ad1- Cardinal e6
3.Cardinal e1 -Marshall e7(Moves like R+N)
4.c4          -Cardinal d4x

Shortest mat in Gothic Chess (Opening set up)- R,N,B,Q,M,K,C,B,N,R. In
Gothic Chess Marshall(moves like R+N-named Chancellor),Cardinal(moves
like
B+N-named Archbishop)

1.Ch3-f5
2.Ai5-h6
3.Ag6x.

I think it is good example shows us where safety of King is higher. In
Grand Chess safety of King is higher then in Gothic Chess.

In my previous notes I showed shortest mat (if both sites desire to do
this) in Classic Chess 2 moves(1.f4-e6,2.g4-Qh4x),Gothic Chess 2,5
moves(1.Cardinal(Archbishop in Gothic Chess)h3 -f5,2.Cardinali5
-h6,3.Cardinalg6x and in Grand Chess 4 moves
1.Rjf1-Cf7,2.Rad1-Ce6,3.Ce1-M(Marshal)e7,4.c4-Cd4x. I offerd that,if
'fool mat' is shortest, then safety of a King for this game is
less.Because one small mistake may be catastrophic.In Grand Chess
probability quick mat in beggining is smaller.
For classic Chess safety for a King will be -2(moves)/64(number of all
squares chess board 8x8)=0.03125, for Gothic Chess -2.5/80(board
8x10)=0.03125, for Grand Chess -4/100(board 10x10)=0.04.We see in Grand
Chess safety of a King is higher.

Dear sir! Thank You for Yours comment about Grand Chess 2.But I would like
to dispute some Yours positions. In my opinion Amazon,General or Mahardja
is not bad piece if it can a chechmate the king alone.It even brings some
interesting moment to the game.For example:the velosity,dynamics and
complication to the game. Christian Freelings Grand Chess is
beatiful,fantastic,famous game and nobody deny this, because this game is
step ahead over classic chess. In one variant this game(Grand Chess 2)
main purpose was: preserve all classic chess endgames ideas( including
pawns promotion in last line) plus to complete all pieces combination to
the logical ending.You are right about name of this game,may be it will
be
better if it named like 'Grand Chess variant'. In any way,only time and
practise can show the possibilites of this variation of game.

In view of principle of 'exception of two identical pieces in one number from three squares' is possible to offer 2 more variants of initial position in Symchess.(In view of preservation of the order R,N,B,Q,K,B,N,R).

First of them can be rejected from aesthetic reasons (normal castling impossible). The second has lack. Total of protection of pawns - it is minimal(2x4+2x3+6x1=20). Opening setup from Symchess and Sam Trenholmes` variant for Symchess are the optimal because, the total sum of protection of pawns is maximal(=22) and also all pawns are protected.

Chancellor on squares c1 and h1. If we shall arrange them on squares d1
and g1 then,some pawns will be in general without protection. For this
reason in my second variant and  Sam Trenholmes variant A and C are
located on squares c1 and h1.For example:

After consideration 'fool mat' of David Paulowich for Symchess I have decided to write the small comic story on the basis of David Paulowichs mat. 'Foolest mat' - Once the King has decided to begin a war with neighbour. Despite of objection of the general and the queen, he has solved to throw in fight infantry. 1. g5 - The answer was a shy move of the opponent 1....f7 - 'My opponent obviously is afraid to me!' and with the purpose to embarras adversary, he has decided to go to fight himself. 2. Kg3 - But, the adversary unexpectedly conrary to the chess theory has engaged to action very strong piece. 2...Qg7 - The King was obstinate and also has ordered to borrow the throne with Queen while there is a war! 3.
