Mid-evil Chess. Adds a Prince (combines the moves of queen and knight) to Capablanca's array by eliminating one knight...[All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

In the Mid-evil Chess pre-set and Elite Chess the Prince is the name of the piece that combines the move of queen and knight. Prince seems to be more in line with the Medieval jargon of the game, although you may still refer to it as the Amazon, just as a Rook is often called a castle, and a Knight called a horse.

I have a suggestion. Is it possible to have a maximum number of points that
a player can gain or lose per game? I am thinking of a maximum change per
game of around 10 or 20 points, because there are many players listed here
who have only played one or two games but they have highly inflated or
deflated ratings.

Hats off to Jeremy Good who apparently has completed more games here than
anyone else, looks like 250 completed games, and counting!

Its just plain fun to invent new names for pieces, although i think archbishop and chancellor are the names that will stick. Please note it is common to call a rook a castle, and a knight a horse. Check out Mid-evil chess for a new twist I added to capablanca like games. I call the amazon the Prince, or the 'Mean Queen'

Dead Ringers Chess. Double chess game with twin pieces that are captured simultaneously. (2x(8x8), Cells: 64) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]
Stephen Stockman wrote on Thu, Aug 17, 2006 09:57 PM UTC:Excellent ★★★★★
I think some clarification of the rules is required. I assume, if a piece is captured on the first move of your turn its twin is immediately removed from the other board b4 you make the second move of your turn. The rules say that the first person to capture the enemy king wins. I assume this means that check and check-mate do not apply, or do you play that you can only move into check if you are already in check-mate? Also, if a player captures a piece on the first move of his turn and removing its twin allows a (un)disclosed check on the second board you may simply capture the enemy king (and its twin) and win the game. Sounds like fun!

If you want to move a unit on one board and you dont have any armies of the specific calibur required to move on the second board, what happens? Do you simply not move on the second board, or is the first move disallowed?
