Can you please detail your question ? I'm not sure to understand well...

The pieces are used as usual Shogi(Japanese Chess) Pieces, I designed myself: 
   Pawn, kNight, Bishop, Rook, King, 
   and Gold, Silver, Lance.
The first 5 pieces have quite the same shape as standard chessmen, and Gold is like a Queen.
Silver(with a silver moon on its top) and Lance(like a cannon) are totally new shapes.
Shogi players recognize instantly all such 3D pieces without any notice, and chess-players are also discovering Shogi easier (with no need to learn any Japanese Kanji)...

There's an error on Horse move: it normally cannot move when a piece is on its way.
This is an interesting variant, but I fear that 1st move Cannon b2-e2 is always winning.

Maybe that's also a good idea to change files, but this has to be checked also with Zillions engine, in order to see there's no other great advantage to Red(Knight moves have to be fixed first)... At first sight, it seems to be equilibrate.

Starting with Cannon file exchange (d2 & b5), there's an other
zillions implementation error(with cannons?), where the Red General is not allowed to move:
1. Horse b1 - c3; 1. Horse d6 - e4
2. Cannon d2 - e2; 2. Cannon b5 - a5
3. Horse c3 x e4; 3. Cannon a5 x a1
4. Horse e4 - c5; 4. Mandarin b6 x c5
5. Cannon e2 x e6; 5. Elephant c6 - e4

I was fearing that 1st move Cannon b2-e2 was always winning, but finaly Zillions computations showed that there were no such great advantage:
Red is not taking the Elephant(after rook exchange), as it is a trap...
Ce2,Ca5,Cxe6,Cxa1,Ha3,Cb1,Hb5,Mc5,Hc3,Cb6,Hd5,Cb1,Pa2,Mb6,Hc3,Cb2...

So it's a very interesting variant.

That's interesting!

It's rather a Shogi variant (with extra rook&bishop, only 1xgold, shogi-chess pawn move, no Lance, ...)
Finding Shogi equipment is not always easy (boards and pieces). Here, we can enjoy reusing orthodox-chess boards, and kind of orthodox-chess pieces.
But, on the other hand, there will be needed 2 sets of chess pieces (each with 4xQueens/Silver), and moreover 2xGold new pieces (that differ from Silver/Queen piece).

You're saying that: 'Use the second chess piece set to represent the promoted pieces.'
Like it was said before, promotion discs would be an easier solution
But whatever, a second set of pieces is needed if you want to play 'black' against 'white', as captured pieces change their color.
(oponents can't play the same color, because pieces rook+pawn+king+queen are not shape-directionnal pieces)

The pieces set I designed can be suitable for playing it ;), with only one set of pieces and promotion discs (magnetized).

Maybe that would be a good idea to make the Zillions rules for Chogi, in order to evaluate the 'playability/complexity' of such a game.
