1. Yes, I meant the first player and the second player. 2. Indeed, each player will meet all the other participants in the first phase only if there are exactly seven participants. I didn't think of a better term than round-robin, but there should be one. 3. The worst mistake. I copied and pasted Fergus' page for GCT#2 and applied it to a different situation. (GCT#1 and GCT#2 are true round-robins.) I think I'll follow your link.
The preset for Vegas Fun Chess has dice implementation.
But neither is playing regularly, like Jeremy Good or Nicola Caridi, nor has provided an email address. How can I contact them?
I'm also unsure what is going on, because the same move-verifying preset was used for my recent game against George Duke, and Black's Wall was (and is) displaying correctly, at least from White's perspective.
Thanks a lot Fergus, I have added them. So the Chess-Xiangqi-Shogi Tournament will start in a few days. Are there other contestants?
In fact, there are currently two presets for Chess on a Longer Board. Neither prevents check (because it would take more than 30 seconds at the end of a game), and both use pre-moves and post-moves by the second player to display the Wall half-correctly. One of these presets also verifies the legality of the moves, performs baroque (Withdrawer or en passant) capture, moves automatically the other part of a Wall and changes automatically the Halfling-Bishop in a Halfling-Rook and vice-versa. So both presets, although different, display the same following message: 'This preset does not notify you here of check, checkmate, or stalemate.' Which is why I thought the same presets were used in my game against George Duke and in this game. I've replaced lines such as $preauto2 = 'convert all Y Z Z Y y z z y%3B'; by lines such as $preauto2 = 'convert all Y Z Z Y y z z y'; in both the relevant preset and the log file. I guess I'll try Fergus' solution when I have some time.
I have replaced a Cannon with a Camel in both the preset and the game log.
It would be eleven, since Nasmichael Farris has also registered by e-mail. But please finalize your registration as a member or user, so that we get your e-mail address, otherwise you won't be able to play.
True, I have your e-mail address through the editor command, so I'm adding you to the list. But I guess you still have to finalize your registration to be able to play.
Registration will be definitely closed at midnight (Eastern time). Soon afterwards, I'll add a section indicating who plays whom at what and in which order. Tomorrow evening, I'lI assign the games. The Chess Preset should be HTML table for board. The Xiangqi Preset should be CSS. The Shogi Preset should be Uncheckered Board, Displays as small PNG file. If a player is dissatisfied with one of these presets (anyway, you are able to choose your set of pieces regardless of the preset), I'll ask his opponent about preferences and try to choose another preset for their game.
Registration is over now. We have eleven participants.
Okay, I prefer the uncheckered marble board for my game against you. If Sean Humby has no preferences, I'll also use it for your game against him. I will use the maple/walnut CSS for your Chess games against Jeremy Good and Gary Gifford if they do not object.
Congratulations for a much-deserved win, Gary. The victory went first and foremost to the better player, but also to the inventor of the excellent Catapults of Troy. And thanks also to Fergus for the continual improvement of Game Courier.
There are regular backups, so I think David Howe should be able to retrieve them. Anyway, i have Voidrider Chess and Zone X on my hard drive (and so do their authors, I presume).
I've tried to rename the 'good_chess' directory into something without quotes in case the origin of the problem lied there, but the system keeps answering no such file or directory.
Okay, I've added a link to the CXS #1 page, and from there a link to all the games (which was already provided in a comment.)
This zrf gives a phony Ghost to White (which is captured when Black's Ghost is captured). Hence there isn't too much distortion in Zillions' evaluation. I have also added four extra setups with a White Ghost on c3, d3, e3 or f3 and a Black Ghost in hand (and another phony capturable Ghost to each, for evaluation purposes). Now both players have the same army, but White's development remains more hampered than Black's.
It looks like there were errors in both the preset and the shanghai2 set.
I modified a line on your logfile. It now refers to the previous preset ($settings='Galacticnocheck' instead of $settings='Galactic'). But even that preset won't allow a King to stay behind a non-adjacent fellow piece when both are threatened by a (Long-) Leaper.
This preset doesn't check for anything and should let you enter any move. But it would take too much time to write a move-verifying preset for uncommon subvariants.

- A win and a draw at one game will often be enough to advance to the tournament for that game.
- The playoffs are by sudden elimination, with the player who ranked higher in the round-robin playing as White and qualifying in case of a draw.
See here.Does it suit you?
Are there enough players interested?
Do you think it adds up to too many games? (six in the round-robin, about five in each game tournament for those who advance to the final, three or four for the overall championship)
How about playing the whole thing over two years?
